Coffee Shop

FiReD uP

What sounds warmer than a smooth cup of coffee on the coldest day of the year???

How about our own roasted, ground, and brewed coffee!!!!!

We bought the roaster on a whim. It was too incredible to pass up.

That was a year or more ago.

For Ted....Every task has more than one purpose. Every job yields many prizes. He runs on full tilt at all times. always thinking...re-duce, re-use, and re-cycle. He manages to build empires of stations that serve one purpose or another. Work cubbies that have essential pieces of equiptment. Equiptment that begins the process of re-incarnation from the time he picks "it" up until it takes on new meaning and function. What ever it is....it's valuable! And so the process of preparing for "roasting day" began........ the day the roaster came home. One small functional piece after another...and finally the beans. He ordered them last week......25 lbs. and when he opened the burlap bag we ran our fingers through the beans like we were sifting through an illegal shipment.
Odd as it sounds.....I was sound asleep on sunday morning, vividly dreaming!!!!!!!!....some female manager at Griggs was crying on my shoulder stating that her only reliable employee had been fired.

She was referring to Ted, who took a moment from waiting on his customers to come over to me and explain that he had been fired................i awoke............and the roaster was churning outside my bedroom door! He was roasting 5 lbs to test the water!

Satisfied that the roaster ran like a gem we headed out to roast the other 20 lbs. He is truly a resourceful guy! When are we going to get lost in the wilderness so he can save me????

ALEX AND TEDDY GO OVER THE ROASTER ONE LAST TIME

ADJUSTING THE FLAME

THE PADDLES TOSS THE BEANS INSIDE THE DRUM

IT IS IMPORTANT TO CHECK THE BEANS OFTEN

READY

DUMP How did that one bean not get a tan???????????????
Gotta get em out of there.....he'll ruin the grinder!!!!

Not sure whats next.........except it's my turn to pick a green bean.......I can promise you it won't be "The Poorman's Blend." (which we got to make sure everything was gonna be ok)

Happy January.....stay warm.

MOM VISITS FOR THANKSGIVING

Mom visited with several family members this past week. Timmy, Doreen, Billy and Joanne took her to New York City. She went to a show. They wined her and dined her. Such a great journey for her. She then went to John and Sue's to enjoy State College life for a few days.
Then here!!!
With the OCD 'ers of the world. (WE EITHER DO TOO MUCH).......With Miss "everybody needs a job, lets get busy, no sitting down" seargent. (OR WE GO TO GREAT LENGTHS TO CONSERVE) With Mr. "Ultra Conservative," shut off the lights (even if your in there), I know it was my pappy's but it works, I can fix that, no need to buy a new one, .....you don't need that much floss.....here I'll get it for you : ______________________________________________________________
(ACTUAL SIZE)
(OR WE WORK REALLY HARD AT ONE THING ALL DAY) Our parrott doesn't just repeat what you say but repeats everything he says until someone.......... flips. ....(AND AT THE OTHER END OF THE ENERGY SCALE IS:) The "TV viewer" who holds in his brain a lot of manusha that he learned by sitting, lying, chillin, resting, relaxing, doing nadda for HOURS at a time. I am amazed at the shit that he knows just from watching TV. OH.........Amie visited with Teddy.......what?? You want to know what her OCD is????? She is the bare minimum chick. A drop of shampoo for the week.....4x4 square area to sleep, veges out of their original bag, no need for plates or utensils and no need to heat it up....she'll eat it cold. I think Teddy (Lawson) finds himself saying..."Ted's got a point....ohhhh....... Barbie has a good point too!" Good balance to the mix!
SOOOOOO I don't think she minds all the personalities......she's got one of her own!!!!
She showed up with the biggest suitcase I have ever seen!!!! We were cracking up when we saw it!!!

We had Thanksgiving at Ma Janes....................on the way there I said to mom..."so here we go....to Martha Stewarts." She looked perplexed.......I continued..."who do you know that reminds you the most of Martha Stewart?"......She replied, "well, besides Martha herself......uhhhhhhh....I guess that would be Kathy...you know with all that fancy cooking and stuff that she does.....is she here?".............So we called Kathy to wish her a Happy Thanksgiving.......Mom enjoyed their phone conversation!!!!

ALWAYS A YUMMY DINNER AT MA JANES!!!!!!!

In true form on Thanksgiving day!!!!!!!!!!

TIME TO REST!!!!

WE HAD A GREAT TIME!!!!

Off to Larry and Ellies for a few days!!!!!

FAMILY FUN!!!!!! SOCCER FEST AND BROTHER BOB!!

FALL FUN!!!
Mom came to visit a couple weekends in a row! Thought you might like to brief through the pics. I wanted to get so many others....we ate at the Kast Hotel. It was a very nice evening. She sure can eat!!! Should have seen the look on her face when the waitress put the menu in front of her. She brought the cover into focus.....and her jaw dropped. I was watching closely...ready to explain.....I chimmed in...."Nice uhhhh......same restaurant....different place!" She smiled...."oh, that's cool!" I'll have to take her back there.....I so wish I would have taken a picture!!!

We went to our fair share of soccer events....just had to bundle her up. The pic below is from a game in Mifflinburg....was a particularly cold night!

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.................

We drove to Penn State for a soccer game. We met John and Jake there and then she went to stay with them for a a few days. HEY LADY......WHERE IS MY COAT?????

AND>>>>>>>ARIC had a game too!!!!! The 2 of them are silly all weekend!!!!! If you could here their conversations!!! As if Aric "gets it all" they converse all day! He follows her around like Sally follows me. He's a much better "watch dog" than Alex. Mom came to visit this past summer and decided (behind my back) to "go for a walk." (because that is what she is use to doing daily).....So she walked down the driveway and passed Alex as he was driving up the driveway. He stopped....like a good boy...wished her good morning and asked where she was going...."For a walk" ......she replied! He smiled...."Have a nice walk mom-mom." You don't want to know what happened to Alex!
I also had the opportunity to take mom to see Uncle Bob and Aunt Marcia. We ran into Keith and Nancy at the Growers Market. They met us at Sycamore, where both aunt Marcia and Uncle Bob reside. It was a very nice visit.

Can't you just hear her! "What....they serve bourbon at this place....if they serve beer I'm movin in!"

Nancy and Keith brought some great photos to show mom. The one that mom is looking at has her mother and father, all three of her brothers and I believe Mom's grandmother. They were walking on the board walk....mom is very young. Its a great picture!!

Aunt Marcia hasn't been well. She was a trooper however, came down to the dining room with us and had cookies and juice.
Mom and Uncle Bob watching an oldy but goody!!!!!!!!! Anybody know what it is???

Mom accompanied Uncle Bob to lunch. She would make such a great companion to him!

Thank you Nancy and Keith for your time. It was an imortant milestone for mom! And Uncle Bob had a few good laughs!

SUCH A LUCKY KID. DEDICTED TO WHATEVER HE IS DOING.

They were playing Danville. The win would be sweeter than anything! (It's a rivalry thing!!!!!!)

They are in the bottom of the 6th....the score is 6-3......Jakes team is behind. There are 2 on base and Jake is up next!
